About the Sringeri trip

Sringeri is where Adi Shankaracharya established the first of his four mathas, and the Sharada Peetham has been a seat of learning ever since. Sharadamba is worshipped as the goddess of knowledge, and families bring children here for Vidyarambham and Aksharabhyasam.

Next to it stands the Vidyashankara temple, built with twelve zodiac pillars positioned so that sunlight falls on the pillar of the current solar month. The Tunga flows past the steps, and the fish in it are fed by hand and never caught.

The route through Chikmagalur makes this one of the most scenic trips we run, and it pairs naturally with Horanadu Annapoorneshwari, Kollur Mookambika and Dharmasthala. We price each leg separately so you can choose your own combination.

Trip Highlights

  • Sharadamba temple darshan and the Sharada Peetham
  • Vidyashankara temple with its twelve zodiac pillars
  • Feeding the fish on the Tunga river steps

  • Horanadu, Kollur Mookambika and Dharmasthala extensions
