Most groups attempt this circuit in a rush and end up standing in the longest queues of the day. We have walked this route ourselves, so the plan is built backwards from darshan timings: Palani before the hill heat sets in, Thiruchendur at the seashore in the early hours, and Pazhamudircholai slotted around its limited hill-access hours.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Departure and Thiruttani
Overnight train to Chennai / Arakkonam. Morning darshan at Thiruttani Murugan temple after climbing the 365 steps, then drive towards Chennai for the night halt.
Day 2
Swamimalai and Thanjavur side
Drive to Swamimalai for the Swaminathaswamy darshan where Murugan taught the Pranava mantra to his own father. Evening at Kumbakonam.
Day 3
Palani
Early transfer to Palani. Darshan of Dandayudhapani Swamy on the hill, panchamirtham prasadam, and rest in the afternoon.
Day 4
Madurai, Thiruparankundram and Pazhamudircholai
Thiruparankundram cave temple in the morning, Pazhamudircholai on the Alagar hills by midday, and Meenakshi Amman temple in the evening.
Day 5
Thiruchendur and return
Pre-dawn drive to Thiruchendur for the seashore darshan, then transfer to the station for the return journey.
