About the Draksharamam trip

Draksharamam is rare even by Andhra standards: it is one of the five Pancharama Kshetras of Shiva and simultaneously one of the eighteen Ashtadasha Shakti Peethas, where Manikyamba Devi is worshipped. The Bhimeswara Swamy lingam is so tall that darshan is offered from an upper floor gallery.

The eleventh-century Eastern Chalukyan temple has a double-walled prakara, huge stone pillars and inscriptions that historians still study. Even on a busy day it feels unhurried.

It is often visited as part of a Pancharama circuit with Amararama at Amaravati, Somarama at Bhimavaram, Ksheerarama at Palakollu and Kumararama at Samalkot, and we can plan the full five in two or three days.
